Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 29, 2026

ReadCount requires no account. Reading-page photos, recognized text, books, reading records, and notes remain on your device and are not uploaded to the developer's servers. The app contains no advertising, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics SDKs.

1. Information We Collect

ReadCount does not require account registration and does not request or collect your name, email address, phone number, location, advertising identifier, or other personally identifying information.

The developer does not receive, view, or have access to the books, reading-page photos, word counts, reading time, reader profiles, or notes you save in the app.

2. Camera, Photos, and Text Recognition

The app requests camera or photo access only when you actively capture or select a reading page. A selected image is used only to recognize page text, calculate a word count, and retain the reading page if you choose to save it.

Image text recognition uses capabilities built into iOS and takes place on the device. The app does not send reading-page photos, recognized text, or word counts to the developer's servers or third-party servers for recognition or analysis, and it does not use a third-party cloud AI service.

3. Microphone and Dictation

The app requests microphone and speech-recognition permission only when you tap the dictation control. Speech is used to turn your reading reflection into text. The developer does not receive or retain the recording.

Dictation uses Apple's system Speech framework. Depending on the device, language, OS version, and system settings, recognition may take place on the device or may be processed by Apple services. That processing is governed by Apple's privacy policy and your system settings. The app includes no third-party speech SDK and does not send audio to the developer's servers.

4. Local Storage, Retention, and Deletion

Books, reading records, statistics, reader profiles, and reading notes are stored in the app's local data. Reading-page photos are kept for the retention period shown in the app and are automatically deleted when that period expires. You can also delete them sooner.

Deleting a related record or uninstalling the app will generally remove the corresponding local data. The developer cannot access or remotely delete this data. Files you export yourself and device backups managed by the operating system are not affected.

5. Backup, Restore, and User-Initiated Sharing

Backup files are generated on your device. A file leaves the app only when you actively choose a destination through Apple's system file or share interface. The app does not automatically upload backups.

Reading check-in images are also created on your device. A check-in image is provided to WeChat, Xiaohongshu, or another destination only after you tap Share and select that app. Any subsequent processing is governed by the selected service's privacy policy.

If you choose iCloud Drive, email, or another app or service as the destination, subsequent processing is governed by that service's privacy policy and your settings. The developer does not receive these files.

6. Third-Party SDKs, Advertising, and Analytics

ReadCount contains no third-party advertising, user analytics, behavioral tracking, or cross-app tracking SDKs. We do not sell or rent user data or use user content to create advertising profiles.

Apple may process information related to App Store distribution, purchases, system diagnostics, device backups, or iCloud under its own policies. This information is not directly collected or controlled by the ReadCount developer.

This official website uses no advertising, cookies, or visitor analytics scripts.

7. Children's Privacy

ReadCount does not knowingly collect personal information from children or other users. Children should use the app with appropriate guidance from a parent or guardian. Multiple reader profiles remain local to the user's device.

8. Data Security

Local data is protected by the iOS app sandbox and device security features. Use a device passcode and protect any backups you export. No storage method can guarantee absolute security, but we minimize data collection and transmission by design.

9. Changes to This Policy

If the app's features or data practices change, we may update this policy and publish a revised effective date on this page.
